The word safari is a Kiswahili word, which finds its roots in the Arabic word, ‘safara’ which means: to travel. The word has now been adopted into the English language and is defined as an expedition to hunt or observe animals in their natural habitat, which, if you ask me, I don’t think quite captures the original depth of the word.
You see, all cultures and people groups on the continent of Africa have a word that translates to the word safari and, like everything else in Africa, there is so much more to it than meets the eye.
So, what is a safari? It is a journey to a place known or unknown, with the expectation of meeting a deeply personal need. It is an experience that leaves the sojourner completely transformed emotionally, physically and spiritually. Be it travel to rest, or to lay someone to rest… a journey to get married or to visit family… a trip to explore untapped areas of land or to unleash the adventurer within… or simply escape from the norm; the reasons are as varied as there are individuals on earth.
At Prima Vera Tours & Safaris, we have an innate understanding of all these hidden nuances of the word, and that’s not just talk. We take every client’s safari as personally as they do, and we do everything in our power to turn your trip into what you envision it to be.
It is important to us to create lasting memories that are both beautiful and personal and leave you transformed. We want to begin to help you understand what a safari truly is. A journey of the heart, the mind and the soul…
Won’t you join us on safari today?
