NAIROBI REGION

Nairobi became a center in 1899 during the construction of the Mombasa to Kisumu railway.
The maasai called it Ewaso Nairop, meaning (stream of cold water). Nairobi served as the provincial capital of the British colony until it became the capital of British East Africa in 1907. In 1963, the town became the capital of independent Kenya. Nairobi is the springboard to Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. The city has successfully combined her treasured finery with the contemporary style she has acquired over the years.
Its wide and open space will transport you back to a time when Africa was untouched and then rush you back to the modern world.
The City has numerous landmarks and monuments of historical interest for e.g Jeevanjee Gardens was the location of the first agricultural show in Kenya in 1901,  Ainsworth the then Imperial British East Africa Commissioner; Kipande House on Kenyatta Avenue was the registration center for Africans who worked in colonial Nairobi. The National Archives on Moi Avenue was built as the National Bank of India, Cameo Cinema was built in 1912 as Theatre Royal, Emperor Plaza was Avenue Hotel and Standard Bank was the Torrs hotel.
Nairobi is accessible by air from all international airports through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and locally by air to and from Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret airport. There is also regular bus transport using day and night buses and rail transport from the cities of Mombasa and Kisumu.

CENTRAL REGION

Central Kenya is located just north of Nairobi, reaching out to Mt Kenya and including important towns such as Thika and Nyeri.

The community in this area predominantly consists of the Bantu speaking Agikuyu, Aembu and Ameru. The provincial headquarter is Nyeri and the climate is generally cooler than that of the rest of the country due to the region's relatively higher altitude.
Stunning views of rolling hills carpeted with all manner of vegetation attest to the deeply ingrained agricultural culture in this region. The diverse ecosystems within the central region means that the terrain caters for a large variety of crops such as coffee, tea, maize, mangoes and even rice fields. Livestock farming also forms a mainstay for the people and much of Kenya's dairy industry is based here.

The Central region is accessible through regular and reliable public road transport to and from central Kenya and the road network is fairly good. There are also a number of airstrips open for use by the public and tourist.

The great Rift Valley is the kingdom of lions, the cradle of mankind and home of the Maasai people, the nine kalenjin tribe and the Turkana the oldest tribal society in the world.
The geological phenomenon that is the Rift Valley, so named by the Scottish explorer John Walter Gregory, occurred as a result of a weakened earth crust that tore away, creating a jagged rift thousands of kilometers long. It offers picturesque views of gorges and volcanic mountains. This is where you will find the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Africa's greatest wildlife reserve where the great migration occurs every year. Rift Valley are easily accessible by road. The main advantage of road travel is the opportunity to view plenty of things on the way and also make stopovers. The Great North highway has clear signs on the location and the distance from one town to the next. Air transport to the Rift Valley is available from Nairobi, Mombasa and Malindi.

WESTERN REGION

Western Kenya borders Rift Valley and Nyanza with Kakamega town being the provincial headquarters.
